Saint Charles de Foucauld (1858–1916) lived an extraordinary journey of searching, conversion, prayer, and universal brotherhood. From a restless youth and military life to his exploration of Morocco, his encounter with God transformed the direction of his life and led him to follow Jesus in the simplicity and hiddenness of Nazareth.
His journey eventually brought him to the Sahara, where he lived among the Tuareg people, dedicating his life to prayer, friendship, presence, and fraternity. Desiring to become a “universal brother,” he sought to welcome every person with respect and love.
